Aqaba is described as a hub for the rich and famous in the Middle-East, you can find anything your heart desires here with the quality and quantity of choice available. Allow me to narrow that down for you.

A cute little place. It’s not only one of the best restaurants in Aqaba, but definitely the top place for sushi in Jordan. Aqaba is Jordan’s only coastal town, here you will find the freshest fish in the country.

It’s the supplier of several other restaurants in Aqaba, so come and get it where’s it’s made.

Spicy Tuna Roll & Chef Special

The popularity of the restaurant is allowing it to expand, soon taking over the building next door and becoming twice the size. Also having procured a liquor license, you will soon be able to get a taste of the orients in more ways than one, combine your sushi with some sake.

My friend only eats meat occasionally and was very happy to have chosen it to be on this night. The Al Shami dish comprises of chicken tikka, lamb, shish tawouk, grilled onions and tomatoes.

If you like sour, I would highly recommend the lemon juice with mint, so refreshing.

Best Fish – Abu Baker Fish

  • English Spoken: No, But English Menu.
  • Alcohol Served: No
  • Recommended Dish: Grilled Fish (Picking A Fish Of Your Choice)

Open 7 days a week, from morning until evening. The availability of the fresh fish dictates the closing time of the restaurant. That being said, we were there around 5pm and there was still plenty of fish available to be served.

Aqaba definitely has the best fish in Jordan, being the only coastal town in the country. I was told it Abu Baker has the best fish in town, I agree 100%.

At the end of the meal it was just 6.50 JoD each, we did question this. We had fried and grilled fish, 2 cans of Pepsi and 2 sides. The waiter pointed to the bottom of the menu where ”price of the day” was written. We were astonished by the price and the amount of delicious food that came with it.

Best Chicken – Tikka Chicken Plus

  • Location: Downtown Aqaba
  • Wi-Fi: No
  • English Spoken: Yes
  • Alcohol Served: No
  • Recommended Dish: Everything Is Delicious (But you have to order a side of Puri Bread)
  • Recommended Drink: Lemon Juice with Mint
  • Open Everyday: 12:00 – 00:00

For Free: Pita with a garlicy dip (didn’t get the name)

You have to try the Puri Bread, deep fried bread that is fantastic.

A colleague of mine would give anything to get his hand on the Biryani recipe.

The lemon juice with mint here is not as sour as other places and is definitely something everyone should try.

I would have definitely walked past this place if it hadn’t been recommended. On a street filled with other restaurants, it doesn’t look like much from the outside, but doesn’t need to with the mouth watering chicken.

Best Shawarma – Reem Shawarma

  • Location: Downtown Aqaba
  • Wi-Fi: No
  • English Spoken: Yes
  • Alcohol Served: No
  • Recommended Dish: Beef Shawarma (Meat Sandwich/Meal/Plate)
  • Open Everyday: 10:00 – 03:00

Although it’s not really a restaurant, no seating available with only take away, it has to be included. Hands down the nicest beef shawarma in the city, recommended by everyone I came into contact with.

Best Burger – Firefly Burger

  • Wi-Fi: No
  • English Spoken: Yes
  • Alcohol Served: No
  • Recommended Dish: Burger

My personal favourite is the kamikaze burger. That being said everything is delicious. I don’t often say I’m full after eating out, but the red kamikaze (3x150g beef patties) will definitely do the trick.

It has a beautiful view over the marina.

Best Wings – Buffalo Wings & Rings

    • Thursday – Friday: 12:00 – 02:00

A classic American style bar/restaurant with a huge outdoor area. The back terrace provides you with a sea view.

If you fancy a break from Jordanian food, this is a great option, the wings here are excellent. There are 3 Buffalo Wings & Rings around Jordan and the one in Aqaba is by far the nicest.

During happy hour, both beer and wings are cheap. Wings are only 0.19 JoD (Breaded wings – 0.24 JoD) each. I have personally tried every sauce on the menu, you can’t go wrong with any. Word of advice: Don’t go too spicy, it takes away from the original taste.

Best Pub Food – Rover’s Return

  • Location: Aqaba Gateway, Downtown Aqaba
  • Wi-Fi: Yes (rovers2020)
  • English Spoken: Yes
  • Alcohol Served: Yes
  • Recommended Dish: Burger
  • Open Everyday: 12:30 – 01:00

Normally I go for the burger, a very classic burger cooked the way you want it.

With excellent variety and big portions, a great place to relax with a drink. It’s a little expensive in comparison to other restaurants, but unfortunately that is the cost of being able to get an alcoholic drink with your meal here in Aqaba. It has a nice outside area that sometimes contains live music downstairs.

Also one of the few places you’ll be able to get Wi-Fi.
